Alpha VMS Recording Platform

Custom Enterprise NVR

A custom Linux-based recording server and video management platform for businesses that need more flexibility than a boxed NVR.

Custom enterprise network video recorder with camera monitoring wall

Product Direction

Built for sites that outgrow a boxed recorder.

This custom NVR is based on the Alpha VMS architecture: a Linux recording platform designed around edge recording, central monitoring, playback/export workflows, and security-event context.

Instead of treating camera count as a fixed product limit, each build is sized around the real site: camera streams, recording resolution, retention target, network bandwidth, disk throughput, operator views, and future analytics needs.

Edge recording per building so cameras continue recording locally.
Central command center for live wall viewing, operator review, and future federated playback.
Segment-based continuous recording with retention sized around camera count, resolution, storage, and risk.
Door-event integration for mapping doors to nearby cameras and reviewing short event clips.

Architecture

Recording, live view, and security workflows on separate services.

Alpha VMS separates recording from operator viewing so a browser wall, mobile view, or security monitor does not have to be the thing keeping cameras recording.

Edge Node

Local Recording

A recorder node at the building handles camera ingest, continuous recording, segment indexing, playback clip generation, and local health checks.

Command Center

Operator View

A central console supports live wall viewing, camera registry, operator workflows, mobile-friendly viewing, and future federated playback.

Security Context

Door Events

MQTT door events can be normalized, stored, mapped to nearby cameras, and used to capture short event clips for review.
